“I used to be excited and even spent a lot of money to enter. But over the years, I was met with rejection and disappointments. I wasn’t winning or getting nominated,” he said.

He said his work would trend on digital platforms but without any recognition at the awards.

“This was disheartening. The reality is most artists are unhappy with local awards because their work is not appreciated,” he said.

“This is why I’ve decided never to enter until there’s fairness in the industry.”

Ayanda said God’s grace and his followers brought him this far.

“My fans loved my music and supported it. I don’t need to be validated by an award. I considered my followers who built my brand. I thought about the pain and disappointment they’ve been subjected to over the years,” he said.
