JAZZ maestro and actor Thapelo Joseph Mofokeng was remembered by his friends and family during a memorial service at Christ the King Catholic Church in Orlando East, Soweto on Thursday, 25 January.
He died on Monday, 22 January aged 74 years old.
His industry colleagues and friends came in numbers to celebrate his life during the memorial service.
Legendary singer Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse said Thapelo was a great brother to him, adding that he'll always miss him for their time together on stage and at events.
"I don't have much to say as it is God's will. I can only say that this man loved his work and everyone he worked closely with," Hotstix said.
Legendary actress Marah Louw said she met Thapelo in 1972.
"We had a great relationship, and he was very charming. We were preparing for a show called Meropa," she said.
"The next day we travelled together to our performance rehearsals. We did a photoshoot together around Joburg," she said.
The actress said they then clicked and enjoyed their trip to Japan.

Another legendary actress, Abigail Kubeka, said Thapelo used to speak up for himself. She said he never missed a chance to be what he wanted to be.
"He was always a performer and loved his work. I appreciate how he carried himself," Abigail said.
Another legendary actress, Lillian Dube, said she and Thapelo come a long way.
She said that Basotho nation is proud of him and his excellent work as a performer.
"We are really happy that he put our country on top. What a great individual he was, and he was also full of love," Lilian said.
Thapelo will be buried on Saturday, 27 January, at West Park Cemetery in Joburg.
