GRAMMY award winner Nkosinathi Maphumulo, known as Black Coffee, has finally opened up about his flight accident.
In his interview with Kaya FM’s Thabo ‘Tbose’ Mokwele, the DJ said he saw his life flashing during the incident.
“It wasn’t so quick. That was the most painful thing about this incident. And then I woke up in the hospital. It happened for like a minute, so it gave me time to think while it was happening. I had time to pray while it was happening. I had time to hope that it was going to be over, and I had a time where I was like okay, we are dying, it’s over."
He said that he saw everything happening.
The musician said that this happened during his South American tour, which he normally does in January, and only had about three shows before he could return home and rest.
“I had done a show in Brazil and was flying from Brazil to Argentina. I had been using a bigger plane, and this was the last leg, and I was flying privately."
He explained that the plane looked old, and he even took pictures of the floor.
“It looked like no one was using this plane. I felt uneasy."
Black Coffee said that when the plane took off and was cruising, he took a nap and listened to a gospel album on his phone.
“I woke up to something that felt like a dream, a nightmare when the plane was shaking violently, and I opened my eyes. Everyone was trying to hold on.
“It felt like I was in the car, and it was rolling but it was moving so violently. I fell on the floor, and I still had my headphones, and there was a gospel song playing. It kept repeating hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah on my headphones, and then it felt like a dream. It was a loop. The loop kept getting higher and higher, and it felt like I had this choir or angels singing to save me at that moment."

The musician further narrated the shocking incident.
“Now I was on the floor, I get up, we all trying to hold on, and then, the plane just steeped so fast, and I hit the roof of the plane with my head, then I was unconscious for a couple of seconds."
Black Coffee said it wasn’t for long, and he was on the floor again.
He said that the plane inside was destroyed but still flying.
The Superman hitmaker recalled how the oxygen masks were hanging, and everything was broken, including the glass he used to drink water and his eyeglasses.
Due to the complications, the plane landed in Uruguay.
“There was water everywhere, and I was feeling a sharp pain on my upper back.
He revealed that his upper spinal cord was damaged and had to be fixed.
Black Coffee said he had to have metal embedded on his spinal cord.
“I was half man, half machine. I spent a week in a hospital in Uruguay."
He says that he feels that God has given him a second chance.
