GOSPEL singer Kholeka Dubula-Sosibo is going back to varsity.
Next year she’ll be pursuing her honours degree in communication science, again.
In 2020, she received a BA in communication science from the University of South Africa (Unisa).
“After completing my matric in 1995, my dad got retrenched from his job as a mine worker. Because of that I could not go to university and enrol for a degree like I had planned to. I had to go and work. Most of the time I had to juggle between my music career and my studies. Sometimes I’d do my work in the hotel after my performance, but it was all worth it,” she told Daily Sun at the time.

Her first degree only motivated her to study even further. Last year she pursued her honours degree in communication, but she failed.
“I failed one module and because of that I couldn’t get my honours degree. I was disappointed. But now I am going back with more determination and focus. This failure has motivated me to go back and identify my mistakes and even work harder. I’ll need to be more dedicated and I’ll need more time for my studies,” she said.
“But I didn’t study this year because I needed a break. Now I’m more than ready to go back to school. One of the reasons I am studying further is because I want to improve my knowledge, I want to improve my skills. My experience in the music industry has taught me that talent is never enough. Sometimes not even hard work can help,” she continued.

She said she’s going back to varsity to finish what she started.
“I’ve always wanted to achieve more than just a junior degree. I’m doing this not only for me but for young, up-and-coming artists as well. I want them to see that talent alone is never enough, but you also need education to sustain it,” she said.
