GOSPEL legend Bishop Benjamin Dube plans to celebrate 60 years in a big way.

He’s planning a big show, to be held on 5 November at the Superbowl Arena at Sun City Resort in Rustenburg, North West.

The internationally acclaimed musician told the People’s Paper that he was celebrating life and legends in the gospel industry.

“The name of the recording is Legendary In His Presence, and the heart is all about celebrating my journey in this world,” he said.

“Secondly, we are going to be having legends coming in, collaborating with me. So, we are celebrating them as well. At the same time, I am celebrating the South African heritage by virtue of bringing icons in the gospel,” he said.

Bishop Benjamin said that they’d be taking their fans back in time.

“People can expect to be taken back to where I started. Together with my friends, who also started many years ago, we’ll be going back and reminding people of the things we have done; songs that have kept South Africans going,” he said, adding that these legends would only be revealed later.

“The only one I can reveal is the queen of gospel, Dr Rebecca Malope. There’ll be eight other legends, too.”

The singer said getting back on stage to do In His Presence felt great, and he was happy to still be standing after many years in the industry.

“It’s humbling because I realise it was not my doing. It was not by my intelligence. We have been through quite a lot, even right now some people are still going through the after-effects of Covid-19. If there’s anything that I have learnt out of Covid-19 is to be grateful, celebrate everything you have and the people around you,” he added.

Tickets cost between R500 and R1 000 at Computicket.
