GOSPEL star Babo Ngcobo (46) has turned his weaknesses into life lessons.

Babo, who has always been open about his past, told the youth that he would be far and more successful if he did not waste his time on girls and alcohol.

He was speaking at the launch of Andile “MC Pholobas” Ngcobo’s church, Umkhumbi KaNowa Unity of God.

The launch was held on Sunday, 12 February at Sandasonke Primary School, in Ntuzuma, Durban.

“I’ve had multiple girlfriends and I abused alcohol. I was just promiscuous and I loved women, I couldn’t control myself. I kept changing women because I’d immediately lose interest after having sex with them. It was an exciting thing to do at that time,” he said.

He said he was on the verge of losing everything when he decided to change.

It took a lot of praying and accepting that he had a problem.

“Getting out of that dark place was not easy. I prayed, I fasted and asked God to cleanse me. Eventually I was delivered from that sin. Since then I never touched alcohol and I stopped changing women. When I look back I can see that I’d have been far and more successful if I didn’t waste my time on women and alcohol,” he told the youth.

He said he was even more grateful to be alive and tell his own experiences.

“Today I live to warn the youth about the dangers of alcohol and the life of being promiscuous,” he said.

The leader of the church, MC Pholobas, said he started this church to accommodate people from different backgrounds.

“My church is different in the sense that it accommodates all religions and cultures. For example we’ll invite pastors from different faiths, we’ll also invite inyangas and izangoma. In this church we are not following Bible teachings but those of Mvelingqangi,” said MC Pholobas.

He said the church will also use different ways of healing people.

“In our church we will use traditional and western medicine to heal people. We will also invite celebrities to come and motivate our youth,” he said.

The likes of Captain Nyawo from Uzalo and maskandi artist Mfiliseni Magubane were also there.
