ON Saturday, 2 July, gospel star Babo Ngcobo announced that he would be going back to the studio with former partner Sgwili Zuma in September, to work on a track they’ll release in October.
But when Daily Sun contacted Sgwili, he said he had no knowledge of it!
Babo and Sgwili shot to fame with their duo Ikhethelo, but split up in 2014. At the time, Sgwili said Babo wanted everything to be done his way.
On Thursday, 7 July Sgwili told Daily Sun he had agreed to return to the studio with Babo, but that was all.
“I’m surprised to learn he announced a date. We haven’t made any arrangements or agreements, except that I agreed to work on a project with him,” he said.

“It’s like a couple that separated and decide to get back together. But there is no plan of how to do this. Babo and I have not signed anything, which is why I’m surprised he tells people we will release a song,” he said.
Sgwili said that people saw Ikhethelo as a group, but it was more of a project.
“When there was a misunderstanding between us, we decided not to continue. Babo will always remain my big brother. Our misunderstanding was business-related,” he said.
Sgwili further said he would be releasing a single soon, titled Linda.
Babo said he would discuss their plans when the time was right.
