GOSPEL artist Babo Ngcobo has apologised following his failure to attend one of the Easter weekend events, Kufeziwe Gospel Celebration, in Richards Bay, north of KZN.

He was double booked for Kufeziwe Gospel Celebration and Uvukile Gospel Festival.

Both events were held on Sunday, 17 April.

Uvukile Gospel Festival was held in Margate, south of KZN.

On his Facebook page, Babo said he agreed to both bookings with the hope that he’d drive from the north to the south of KZN on the same day.

“I actually arrived at Richards Bay, but I was told I’m the closing act. I then drove to Margate with the hope of coming back.

“When I got to Margate, I realised that my performing times in both events were clashing. As a result, I couldn’t drive back to Richards Bay,” he said.

He said the rainy weather also made things worse.

“Under those circumstances, I had to put my safety first and cancel the Richards Bay gig.

“Therefore, I’d like to apologise to the event organisers and my fans for this. It was beyond my control,” he said.

He further appealed to event organisers to allow artists to be flexible so that they don’t miss out on other gigs.
