THE untimely death of media personality Eusebius McKaiser shocked his friends and family.

His funeral left a much darker cloud and heartbreak on them.

According to his family, a lot of things went wrong during the memorial and funeral preparations. But they were not prepared to see how mishandled his body was.

His lips were apparently so dry on the day before his funeral that a family member had to use a lip gloss to fix them.

In a letter, the family said: “At the family viewing of the body on the evening of Friday 9 June at AVBOB in Makhanda, Mr McKaiser’s cousin had to give her lip-gloss to the mortician to attempt to cover up second-rate cosmetic work which left Mr McKaiser’s lips looking cracked and dry,” the letter read.

They also revealed that his casket was dropped by the employees as it was being taken six feet under. On top of that, they further accused them of using Eusebius’ death to promote their company by putting their sticker on his headstone.

Their demands to AVBOB include paying back Eusebius' partner, Nduduzo Nyanda, the money he paid for the funeral held in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

“Publish a full apology to Nduduzo Nyanda and the McKaiser/Stevens families where you admit to the mistakes that were made and commit to better business practice in future, especially when it comes to marketing and branding,” they said.

Eusebius died on 30 May 2023 after an epileptic seizure.

Malixole Gwatyu, AVBOB's manager for communications, told Daily Sun they began investigating the matter after Eusebius’ friends complained on social media days after his funeral.

“Although matters pertaining to the service were indeed investigated after the previous social media reports, we are again making sure of all the facts and are trying to get an appointment with Mr Nyanda to discuss the matters.

“Any concerns around a funeral are always extremely sensitive, and we would like to satisfy Mr Nyanda's concerns as our first priority. Once this is accomplished, and with his consent, we will also respond to your inquiries. Please allow us the time to handle this matter with care and sensitivity,” he said.
