Thandani 'Bibo' Ntshumayelo will appear in court on Thursday.

EX-Bafana Bafana star Bibo is back in court.

The footballer, whose real name is Thandani Ntshumayelo, will appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 4 April, following an assault charge.

The Joburg-based footballer last appeared in court on Monday, 4 February, facing charges of assaulting his girlfriend, Itumeleng Alice. The incident followed a verbal altercation in February 2024.

He was arrested on Saturday, 3 February, and granted R1 000 bail. The 33-year-old faces charges of common assault.

At the time, police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed Ntshumayelo's arrest.

"The suspect was arrested on 3 February 2024 and is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on 5 February 2024 on charges of common assault under the Domestic Violence Act," Nevhuhulwi said.

Bibo has been with Orlando Pirates for many years after he left SuperSport United in 2012.

He was banned from the game in 2016 after testing positive for cocaine but was given a lifeline to return to football when his ban was reduced to two years after an appeal.

After the court appearance, Itumeleng refused to comment about this matter.
