FORMER Kaizer Chiefs players remember the late Siphiwe Mkhonza (44) as a man full of jokes.
His death was confirmed on Tuesday, 5 March, and the cause of death is still unknown.
The Kwa-Thema-born star began his career at Bloemfontein Celtic in 1999. He played for several Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams, including AmaZulu, Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs.
Former Amakhosi player, Patrick Mayo said Siphiwe was a humble guy who took his work seriously. He described him as a go-to guy who helped solve problems and offered sound advice.

"He was a great guy because when we were off the field, he used to like jokes. When it was time to work, he took everything seriously, and we would joke after training," said Mayo.
Mayo explained that he knew about Siphiwe's sickness but didn't take it seriously and the last time he was with him it was at Milpark last year.
"He was my friend, especially when we were playing for Chiefs. He was like a brother to me because whenever I had problems, he would not judge me. When I heard the news of his passing, I felt bad. I still can't believe it," Mayo said.
Siphiwe Tshabalala remembered his first encounter with his namesake in 2005 during his first PSL season when he got a call-up for the PSL 11 to play against Bafana Bafana.
"He had a good personality, always joking and got along with everyone in the team. He made me feel comfortable. My time at camp was memorable and great," said Siphiwe.
He added that Siphiwe was one of the senior players who cracked jokes and made everyone feel at home.
The soccer player's funeral and memorial services haven't been confirmed yet.
