THE funeral service for the late gospel singer and songwriter Dr Kenny Makweng is underway.

The musician died at the age of 54 after a short illness at Witbank Hospital in Mpumalanga on Monday, 15 January.

His life and musical journey touched many people in Mzansi. Dr Kenny's industry colleagues and friends came in large numbers to celebrate his journey with his family.

Some of the stars he worked with during his time included Dr Winnie Mashaba, Luyanda Ramatswi, Advocate Mphafolane Koma, Mpumalanga MEC for settlement Speedy Mashilo, Wacha Mukhuku, Leswika La Motheo and Bafana Ba Kenny, who came to honour him one last time.

Dr Winnie Mashaba said the late gospel star was very loving and caring. She said he was always there for her.

"We did a lot of things together and he taught me a lot about forgiveness. He was a man who believed in God and healed people with his music," she said.
