DR Kenny Makweng's memorial service has been announced.

The life of the late gospel singer and songwriter Dr Kenny will be celebrated by friends and family on Friday, 19 January.

On Wednesday, 17 January, his production company KennyMak Production released a statement on the details of the funeral and memorial service. The popular Sione musician died at the age of 54 after suffering a stroke on Monday, 15 January.

His memorial service will be held on Friday, at the Akasia Community Hall, Akasia in Tshwane.

The service will start at noon. The funeral service for the musician will be held on Sunday, 21 January in Digwale, Limpopo.

"Please note that after the funeral service in Digwale, the parade will move on to Keerom. This is about 40 kilometres away where Makweng will be laid to rest," the statement read.

The family asked the public to join them in prayer during this difficult time.

"The family once again appeals to you to pray for him," the statement read. 

The musician has worked with several musicians and groups in the entertainment industry.

He has also collaborated with his industry friend Dr Winnie Mashaba on several songs.

During his music career, he has released Sione gospel hits such as Lengeloi Laka and Ka La Ntate.
