TRIBUTES continue to pour for the late gospel star, Dr Kenny Makweng.
The Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) announced the death of Makweng, who passed away on Monday, 15 January at the age of 54 after a short illness.
Mphoza Mashabela, the chairman of the LAM, told Daily Sun that they were saddened by his death.
He said Makweng was someone they enjoyed working with in the entertainment industry and appreciated his work.
"Musicians such as Dr Makweng brought gospel to the mainstream media. His songs were healing and great," he said.
Mashabela said they would like to extend their deepest condolences to his family and fans.
"May his soul rest in peace. Dr Makweng follows some stars like Oleseng Shuping, Nkosana, Mojeremane and many others who have passed on. As LAM and other Limpopo artists, we have lost a great star," he said.

Legendary singer and producer Paul Mabilo told the SunTeam that the last time he saw him was on 15 December 2023, when they performed at Burgersfort Shibishane Barlounge.
"He told me that he was suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes. I did not realise his condition was so bad. His death was sudden, and I feel we were robbed of our talent. I had expected more from him," said Paul.
Paul said he will miss his sense of humour, his passion for his work, his ability to nurture talent, as well as his love for Mokhukhu dance and music.
Gospel singer Luyanda Ramatswi said the gospel industry had lost a great artist.
"We've lost someone who was good at what he did. I wish him to rest in eternal peace," Luyanda said.
