POPULAR Limpopo gospel star Dr Kenny Makweng has passed away.

This comes after the musician was admitted in hospital after suffering from a stroke.

On Thursday, 4 January, his team told the public that he was still not doing well.

The gospel star from Dennilton in Limpopo died on Monday, 15 January at the age of 54. 

The statement released by his management team expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the beloved gospel icon.

"Official announcement regarding the passing of our beloved Dr Kenny Makweng. It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved gospel icon Dr Kenny Makweng, who passed on after a short illness," they said.

The team also announced that details regarding the memorial service and funeral arrangements would be provided by Kennymak Productions in due course. 

"The family humbly request the public and media to respect their privacy to deal with this difficult situation. We request that you keep his family, associates and friends in prayers," they said.

Dr. Kenny's production team also sent their heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

The gospel star, known for songs like Ka La Ntate and Lengeloi Laka, is remembered as a prominent figure in Limpopo's music scene, and his fans and music supporters are encouraged to include him in their prayers.
