THE case against former Generations actress Sonia Mbele has been withdrawn.

She finally appeared in the Joburg Magistrates Court on Friday, 20 October and paid the admission of guilt for her company, Real Housewives of Johannesburg Pty LTD.

Sonia (46) paid R41 000 on 18 October and the case was withdrawn against the company and its directors.

They were facing 41 counts of not filing company income tax from 2019 to 2022, not filing their Value Added Tax (VAT) returns from 2020 to 2022, and not filing their Pay As You Earn (PAYE) from 2020 until 2022.

She paid R1 000 per charge, amounting to R41 000. Her co-accused, Yolisa Gqunta and Rebone Sesing, who are directors of the company, were also present.

Sonia had previously stood the court up twice. She was given the final chance to appear on Friday, 20 October.

Sonia’s spokeswoman, Thato Malindi, had previously released a statement where they denied that Sonia was still part of the company and said it was closed in 2019.

“In 2019, Sonia Mbele left Rhosa (Real Housewives of Johannesburg) and concluded with her peers to close the company. However, the public officer and accountant didn’t do so. Now she is forced to attend these proceedings without any knowledge of the company still being operational when she left and decided to close down the company.

“Sonia further made her own arrangements to settle her portion of the amount, which means she wasn’t in contempt of court due to the assessment made,” said Malindi.
