SABC business news anchor Nzinga Qunta has left journalism to pursue a different career.
The 40-year-old presenter, who is the daughter of the late veteran journalist Vuyisile Qunta, is now going into law. She was the host of SABC3’s daily business show, On Point.
Taking to social media, Nzinga, who has been with the public broadcaster for seven years, said she resigned to pursue a career in the legal profession.
“I have left SABC News to start my journey in the legal profession. Thank you to everyone who has shown me kindness inside and out of the building. It has been such a privilege to work at the public broadcaster,” she wrote on X (previously Twitter).
She also shared the news on Instagram and thanked people who have supported her through her journey with the SABC.

“SABC News has been my news home since February 2017. My time in the anchor chair has come to an end. It has been a privilege to bring people news on the biggest public broadcaster in sub-Saharan Africa, on a channel that is Independent and Impartial.
“I am so grateful to sis’ Thandeka Gqubule-Mbeki for hiring me, and for everyone who has been so kind to me on my journey. Words cannot capture how grateful I am for what I saw, did and experienced on this part of my life,” she wrote.
Nzinga is also an author, published a children’s book titled Amari’s Adventures in 2022. Speaking about the book at the time of its release, she said the book was for children up to the age of six.
“It’s for little ones who are learning to count and interact with the world around them. It’s been translated into 11 official languages and Nama, which is spoken by people in the Northern Cape. This project was made possible by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture’s Mzansi golden economy programme,” she said.
