RADIO and TV news anchor Nzinga Qunta is now a published author.

She published her children’s book Amari’s Adventures, about a little girl who goes on an adventure and encounters beautiful South African plants, animals and people along the way. It is available in all South African languages, including Nama.

Speaking about the book, Nzinga said it was for children under the age of six.

“This book is for ages between 0–6, it’s for little ones who are learning to count and interact with the world around them. It’s been translated into 11 official languages and Nama, which is spoken by people in the Northern Cape. This project was made possible by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture’s Mzansi golden economy programme,” she said.

Announcing the book, Nzinga’s team said readings would be held in different provinces.

“The aim of the book is to encourage literacy and numeracy in an easy, fun way in children’s mother tongue. Book readings will be held in all provinces, indigenous languages primary schools and early childhood development centres. Books are being donated to ECD centres, schools and libraries,” said the team.
