BASADI were represented well this year!
Various artists and media personalities came in numbers to honour their invitation to the second Annual Basadi In Music Awards. Some of them received awards at the prestigious ceremony that took place at The Joburg Theatre on Saturday, 12 August. Royalty was the theme of the evening.
Unathi Mankayi was the host of the awards after she replaced actress Khanyi Mbau. Some of the big names that graced the red carpet included singer Lira, Busiswa, Lethabo "Lejoy" Mathatho, Thandy Matlaila and Ntombee Ngcobo. Guests enjoyed performances by Msaki, Skye Wanda, Lwah Ndlunkulu and Winnie Khumalo.
The CEO and founder of the awards, Hloni Modise-Matau, told Daily Sun she was excited about the awards being back again. She said she was grateful for the support she has been getting from everyone, including her loved ones. Hloni said it wasn't an easy journey but she was happy she managed to bring the awards back.
"I am out of words as many of you know how much this means to me. I was in and out of hospital praying that I do them again and here we are," she said.

Actress, radio host and businesswoman Thando Thabethe, who received the CEO Mosadi in Business Achievement Award alongside Boity Thulo and Nhlanhla Mafu, said she worked hard and felt this was the right gift. She said it was a dream come true as she worked hard for her brand Thabooty to be where it is now.

Radio host Khutso Theledi received the Entertainment Radio Presenter Of The Year.
Entertainment Radio Producer of the Year went to Phila Tyekana of the Touch Down on Metro FM.
Singer Lwah Ndunkulu won Artist of the Year and Song Of The Year.
Kelly Khumalo won Afro Pop Artist Of The Year.
Dr Sophy walked away with the Tradition Artist of the Year.
Empress Lily walked away with Reggae Artist of the Year. Group Chat was the Newcomer of the Year for the amapiano album, Mama.
