THE Basadi In Music Awards is going global.
The founder of the awards, Hloni Modise-Matau, announced that this year, they would be awarding musicians from outside of Mzansi.
The announcement was made at the nominee announcement held at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, on Thursday, 29 June.
Berita from Zimbabwe, Maleh from Lesotho, Mpho Sebina from Botswana and S3fa from Ghana will receive an award called the Mosadi In Music In Africa.

“Next year, African countries will be able to enter the awards. This is an introduction to say we will welcome African countries from next year. So, we will be giving the Mosadi In Music In Africa award to these four women with these awards,” Hloni said.
The nominees for Afro-Pop Artist of The Year are Kelly Khumalo, Brenda Mtambo, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Lioness Mohoje and Nomfundo Moh.
Thando Thabethe, Mittah Ledimo, Lerato Kganyago, Khutso Theledi and Lethabo “Lejoy” Mathatho are up for Entertainment Radio Presenter of The Year.
The nominees for Hip Hop Artist of The Year are Ney The Bae, Nadia Nakai, Fifi Cooper, Faith K and Rouge, while the nominees for SofnFree Amapiano Artist Of The Year are Kamo Mphela, Khanyisa Jaceni, Pabi Cooper, Nkosazana Daughter and Boohle.
Hle, Ntokozo Mbambo, Bucy Radebe, Mmatema and Athandie Mvusi are nominated for Gospel Artist Of The Year.
The late Gloria Bosman is nominated for Jazz Artist of The Year alongside Katalia, Thandi Ntuli and Thesis ZA.
Nhlanhla Mafu, Boity and Thando Thabethe are this year’s recipients of the CEO Mosadi In Business Achievement Award Achievement.
SunGirl, Andiswa Ngenyane, is also nominated for Entertainment Journalist of The Year.
