THE 150 Maskandi Festival is ploughing back to the community after a successful festival in September.
The festival, which was held in Ladysmith, KZN has identified three up-and-coming artists and gave them record deals to record their single tracks at the popular maskandi recording studio, Takk Studio in Joburg.
Stress, Mbuyisa and Ntwentsha NKR will have an opportunity to work with renowned recording engineer Thuthani Ndlovu who is celebrated for his work with maskandi legends such as Shwi NoMtekhala, Khuzani Mpungose, and Mthandeni Manqele.
The festival hogged headlines in September when maskandi star Khuzani Mpungose klapped another maskandi musician Quality Biyela.
The organiser of the festival, Sihle Cindi, told Daily Sun that their main purpose is giving back to the community and nurturing future musical talent in Ladysmith.

“We also donated food and groceries to the three needy families on Sunday because we also want them to have a nice Christmas,” he said.
Up-and-coming musician Nkosinathi "Stress" Sithole (22) told Daily Sun that he's grateful for the chance to record at Takk Studio.
“I think this will be my big break because I started recording my music in 2021 when I released my debut EP, and I recently released my debut album titled Ngizwe Mchunu. It was my long-time dream to record at Takk Studio and I’m happy that my dream has finally come true,” he said.
Fellow emerging artist Nkosikhona Mbuyisa told Daily Sun that he hopes the single will open doors for him.
“I’m over the moon that finally I will have my music recorded in Takk studio. If I had money, I'd record more songs at Takk studio, but I hope this single will open doors for me to get money. I started my music career this year and I have already recorded three songs in small studios.” he said.
