HE loves his car, but believes modifications will expose it to criminals.

“I wanted to put on new mags and make it look smart, but tsotsis will only take it away from me,” said Reamogetse “Gee” Motsepe from Pretoria.

Gee drives a 2012 VW Polo Vivo.

Q: When did you buy your car?

A: I bought it in 2015.

Q: Is it your first car?

A: No, it’s my second. My first was a 2006 Kia Rio, which I still own.

Q: Why do you like it?

A: I like it because it is reliable and not very expensive to maintain.

Germans produce strong vehicles which is why I went for this car.

I enjoy travelling with my friends and they also speak highly of my car.

Q: What features do you like most?

A: It is standard but it has very good features like an anti-hijack and tracking system, tinted windows, power steering as well as air conditioning.

Q: Would you change anything?

A: Yes, I want to make my car look smart by putting on 17 inch mags, but as I said, I’m afraid it might attract the wrong attention and get stolen.

I replaced the sound system with a powerful one that allows me to play my music real loud and enjoy my driving experience even more.

Q: Why did you choose silver?

A: There were three options I could have chosen from: black, white and silver. I chose silver because it looked more beautiful than the others.

Q: Is it your dream car?

A: Not really. My dream car is a BMW 435i but I still love my car very much.

Q: Have you driven any long distance trips yet?

A: Not yet. The only long distance I travel in my car is when I drive from home to work in Bryanston, Joburg.

Q: How often do you get traffic fines?

A: Never, I am very good driver.

Q: Will you allow another person to drive it?

A: Yes, my little brother and my parents can drive it. They are very cautious drivers.

I don’t like testing my friendships by giving my car to my friends to drive, never.

Q: What do you think of other drivers on our roads?

A: There are too many bad drivers on the roads. You need to remain observant while driving. Otherwise you will get yourself and others killed.

The other thing to avoid is alcohol. If you know you will be driving, don’t drink so that you don’t injure or kill other people on the road – yourself included.
