DJ Tira's famous recording studio Afrotainment has been broken into.

All the studio equipment and old music files were stolen.

All of this happened on Wednesday night, 24 April in Durban. The helper arrived on Thursday morning, 25 April to find the gates broken, and the studio emptied.

Hard drives with unreleased new music and old music from the likes of Big Nuz, DJ Cndo and many other musicians under Afrotainment was stolen as well as the TV on the wall.

Afrotainment manager Samkelo Mpisane told Daily Sun that the equipment stolen is estimated to be worth more than R200 000.

"We have offered a reward of R20 000 to anyone who can help us get our equipment back or give us a lead.

"What we want more is hard drives that have the record label's original music, original music copies of old music and unreleased new music; we need it back as soon as possible," he said.

Daily Sun contacted DJ Tira, but his phone rang unanswered, and WhatsApp messages were not responded to.

Many Mzansi musicians appealed to the public to help get Afrotainment equipment back.

The Qwabe Twins, who are under Afrotainment, wrote on their Facebook page.

"Guys, someone broke in at Afro and stole all the equipment. Guys, all unreleased music is gone, and we are asking if you see someone selling studio equipment to contact us," they said.

Rapper Duncan wrote, "Last night some people broke into the studio and stole everything with our work. If you see anyone selling it, please contact us," he said.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the case of burglary to Daily Sun.

"Police in Durban North have opened a case of burglary at business premises following an alleged burglary at the business premises on Ranleigh Crescent on the night of 24 April 2024.

"It's reported that the premises were accessed through the door and window by an unknown suspect(s) who reportedly stole equipment worth an undisclosed amount of money. No arrests have been made, and investigations are underway," he said.
