THE FACTS
SIMON Maringa from Alexandra is unhappy with the work done on his car after an accident.
He took it to Auto Magic as referred by Auto and General Insurance. But the boot leaks and the colour does not match the original. He said he tried to get the company to fix the problem but they have not helped him.
WHAT I DID
I contacted Auto Magic.
SOLUTION
The company’s Mike Walter said Simon brought the vehicle to them in November and the work was done this year.
The suppliers’ expert inspected the car and confirmed the colour painted by Auto Magic was correct and matched the bonnet, as requested by Simon, which is not the original colour.
The insurers refused to pay for the cost of the colour variations, as claimed by Simon.
Walter said it seemed the car was sprayed by somebody else and they also found body filler in areas not worked on by them. He said they can’t accept responsibility for work done by other parties. The assessors agreed.
Simon knows a brand-new part will to be fitted to the boot and will be paid for by insurance.
