Amakhosi lost 1-0 at home to Ivorian side Asec Mimosas in the CAF Champions League on Saturday, their third defeat in a row after getting knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by arch-rivals Orlando Pirates before being beaten 2-0 by Platinum Stars in the Premiership.

Head coach Steve Khompela is under increasing pressure from the club's demanding fans to turn their form around with Chiefs looking increasingly unlikely to finish in the top two of the league this season and will almost certainly finish the season trophyless.

Williams said the coach could only do so much and that it is up to the players to get the right results.

"This is the time for Chiefs players to stand up and take responsibility. You know a coach can do just so much and the players should then take over and make things work in the field of play," he told Goal.

"It's unlike Chiefs to lose three games in a row and to make matters worse it's in three different tournaments including the league as well. It's time the players stood up and took responsibility."

Chiefs will be looking to get back on the winning trail when they host Jomo Cosmos in the Premiership on Tuesday evening.
