FORMER Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba says he is ready to move on to club coaching, either in the PSL or elsewhere in Africa.

“I’m waiting for everybody, either in the PSL or outside the country. I will definitely go for it,” said the 67-year-old Soweto-born coach. “I have let go of the past. I’m ready to be involved in the day-to-day activities of club football.

“I have coached at all levels of football and with my experience I believe I can do well in the PSL, or anywhere else,” said Mashaba.

He has coached all of South Africa’s national teams from the juniors to Bafana, and is certain that he can make a comeback and transform any team that appoints him.

His experience has not only come from coaching in Mzansi, Mashaba also mentored Swaziland’s national team from 2008-10.

His last match in charge was on 12 November last year when he led Bafana to a 2-1 victory over Senegal in a World Cup qualifier at Peter Mokoba Stadium, Limpopo.

He was suspended for disciplinary reasons after that win. That was followed by a dismissal by the SA Football Association earlier this year.

Mashaba, who played for Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows, and coached Black Leopards and Vaal Reef Stars at club level, revealed that the incident that had cost him his job as Bafana coach had frustrated him to such an extent that he nearly quit football completely.

“I was dead, football was out of my blood after what happened to me,” he shared.

“But now I’d like to thank Nedbank for coming to me. While we were on camps with the Ke Yona Team I started regaining my appetite for the game,” said the Ke Yona Team coach.

He said he might be tempted to take any offer that comes his way.
