NEWLY promoted National First Division (NFD) side Magesi FC are not in any hurry to ply their trade in the Premier Soccer League.
The Limpopo based outfit want to settle down in the NFD first before they start campaigning for a PSL berth next season.
Dikwena Tsa Meetse general manager Hero Makgamatha told SunSport yesterday that they had a plan and didn’t want to rush things because they might find themselves getting relegated to the ABC Motsepe League again.
He said: “We are aiming high but the first thing is to make sure that we lay the groundwork for a successful campaign. If we finish in the top 10 we would be happy because it’s our first season in this league.”
Magesi’s management has faith in the new signings, who come from the lower divisions such as the ABC Motsepe League and the SAB Castle Regional league – apart from former Platinum Stars left-back Elias Ngwepe and ex-Highlands Park winger Patrick Meso.
- Kings United, who also got promoted to the NFD this year, have made some signings as they want to make an immediate impact.
Kings coach Simo Dladla said: “The signings we made will boost the squad. We had a strong foundation already, as we had only lost three players to PSL sides.”
Bridget Motha, Mondli Miya, Sibonelo Khuboni and Mfanafuthi Dlamini are some of the players Kings have recruited.
Some NFD clubs will breathe a sigh of relief after the league amended the NFD Under-23 rule, which no longer requires fielding five Under-23 players at the same time but only two.
- Cape Town All Stars have been one of the busiest NFD clubs this off-season. They have confirmed the signing of two Bidvest Wits players, Abednego Mosiatlhaga and Paseka Sekese. They have reportedly also roped in former Maritzburg United goalkeeper Tawfeeq Salie.
