Even though his coach Gavin Hunt has thrown in the towel in Bidvest Wits CAF Confederation Cup journey, Ben Motshwari refuses to do the same.

The Wits midfielder is adamant that they can overturn the 3-0 loss they suffered at the hands of Azam FC in the first leg at Bidvest Stadium when they travel to Tanzania for the second leg on Sunday.

Motshwari is probably the only player from that defeat who will feature when the club takes on Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday night at Bidvest Stadium.

"Playing African teams is always difficult," Motshwari told Vodacom Soccer. "They came here with a purpose. They even had more fans than ours in the stands.

"Our fans were overpowered in terms of noise and for a moment we thought we were playing away. We couldn't even hear our fans. We tried, it wasn't our day.

"The players who were playing are not regular starters of the team. It was always going to difficult because they haven't been playing for weeks. It was a test for them.

"There is a lot to play for in Tanzania. I remember last year we beat a team from Swaziland here 3-0, we thought the tie was over. They beat us 3-0 in the second leg, it was a draw and we lost to them on penalties.

"Anything is possible. But now we have to focus on the game against Pirates. We have been doing well in the league, we need to continue with that. A good result against Pirates could help us go into the second leg confident."
