ROGER De Sa says he will bank on Maritzburg United’s good away run to overcome relegation-haunted Highlands Park.
The teams will square up in an Absa Premiership match at Makhulong Stadium, Tembisa today (3.30pm).
The Team of Choice have collected more points away than at home so far this season.
In five matches they won this season, three have come on the road. This run has given De Sa hope that his lads can also swing this one in their favour.
“The player’s attitude seems good when they’re playing away. They’re proving to be good travellers and I hope they’ll keep up the good work again this weekend,” said De Sa.
But De Sa is wary of the danger posed by the Lions of the North, especially in their backyard. The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper has the right to be worried because Gordon Igesund’s side have had a good run at home.
They have collected 11 points at home and six on the road. They also won two of their three matches at home this season. This is a case of good travellers versus a team that can hold their own at home.
De Sa said: “It’s always difficult to play teams that are in that position. They are dangerous and I’m expecting a competitive match. But my players are ready for the fight.
The teams drew 1-1 the last time they met at Harry Gwala, in Pietermaritzburg, in November.
The Team of Choice will approach this game having lost their last league match away to their neighbours Golden Arrows.
