CAPE Town City head coach Eric Tinkler will go for broke when his side host high-riding Bidvest Wits in their MTN8 semifinal, second leg clash at the Cape Town Stadium tomorrow (8.15pm).

The Clever Boys stunned the new franchise 3-0 in the first leg played at Milpark last weekend and are odds-on favourites to reach the final on 1 October.

But stated Tinkler: “We have nothing to lose and we will go for it. We will attack, we have no option but to have a full go at them. Who knows, maybe I will use two or even three strikers.

“I will have to take risks. Although I won’t experiment, I will be taking the game to Wits. We will go at them from the first whistle.”

Tinkler said he was not down after returning to the Mother City yesterday following their 2-0 defeat to Golden Arrows in their first away Absa Premiership fixture on Wednesday.

Said the coach: “We deserved more out of that game.

“I thought we should have had a penalty and in the end we did not play as badly as the score suggests.

“In fact, there are a lot more positives than negatives I can take from that game. So it was not a setback – we are learning.”

Tinkler expects his opposite number at Wits, Gavin Hunt, to employ a defensive wall, then sit back and defend his 3-0 lead.

Said Tinkler: “There will be no need for Wits to attack us. They can afford to sit back with a 3-0 lead.

“They will try and frustrate us.”

Tinkler is hoping to exploit that to get an early goal and make a game of it: “It’s not over – we still have 90 minutes to play and we’re not throwing in the towel.”

Hunt is expected to make changes after his side drew 0-0 away to Polokwane City in their midweek league fixture.

He changed five players from the side that beat CT City 3-0.

Hunt said he would continue with his rotation policy but stressed he would not be taking anything for granted against CT City.

Said the coach: “One goal, if we score first, should kill the tie.”

Tinkler will be banking on former Orlando Pirates striker Lehlohonolo Majoro, SA Under-23 forward Judas Moseamedi plus attacking midfielders Aubrey Ngoma and Bongolethu Yayiya.

Said Tinkler: “I expect Wits to be at full strength. So we will be ready.”
