Deuteronomy 1:11 says: “The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!”. The Scripture speaks of one particular uncommon blessing which I call “The blessing of a thousand more”.
This blessing causes one to be increased and capacitated with an uncommon ability. Joshua (23:10) seems to have understood this unique blessing when he proclaimed to his army: “One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.”
Samson tapped into this blessing during his combat with the Philistines soldiers when he used a jaw of a dead donkey to kill one thousand of Philistine’s army.
Judges 15:14-16 states: “And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands. And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith. And Samson said, with the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.”
Because of the blessing of a thousand times more that operated upon Samson, a jaw of a donkey became an uncommon weapon that killed a thousand soldiers.
Jabez was born under painful circumstances and he was therefore named “Mr Pain”. When he grew up, he discovered that he was less honourable among his brothers. He was even hated by his mother because of the extreme labour pains she experienced while giving birth to him. He then made an uncommon prayer in 1 Chronicles 4:10 which states: “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
Child of God, may the Lord enlarge you a thousand times more. I pray that you receive this uncommon blessing to become a thousand times stronger; a thousand times richer, and a thousand times more capable. Amen!
