TWO elderly women were shot dead by men posing as cops, in Tsomo in the Eastern Cape.
Cops say the two men entered the homestead on Monday night, pretending to be cops. Then the women requested to be accompanied to another house, on arrival the suspects allegedly killed both the women.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt-Gen Liziwe Ntshinga, said the women died on the scene.
She added that a case of murder has been opened and no arrested have been made.
Ntshinga, condemned the senseless killing and vowed that police would leave no stone unturned to ensure the suspects are brought to book.
"We are very shocked and angered by the senseless murder of the two elderly women, It is indeed hitting hard to the core of humanit, when it is difficult to fathom what could have possibly caused the brutal killing of the two women,” Ntshinga said.
“We condemn this the strongest possible way and I therefore call on our rural communities to urgently come together and fight crime,"
According to Ntshinga , the communities should work with the local police stations and engage on the community police forum discussions, as a way and means to protect the ealderly.
