TUMELO Thulo is a busy young man.

The 22-year-old from Botshabelo outside Bloemfontein makes a living by printing T-shirts.

“After completing my matric three years ago I struggled to find work, and I was not working at the time so I could not even further my studies,” he said.

“I then borrowed money from someone to buy a printing machine.

“I was taught printing by my friend Thabo Mokone, who worked for a printing company in Bloemfontein.”

Today Tumelo uses velvet and video flex material to print T-shirts.

“At the moment I am working alone, but I intend to employ young people as the business grows.

“My only challenge is that many customers place orders but they take time to collect their items.

“When business is good, especially at month end, I am able to make R5 000,” said Tumelo.

“The money helps me to put food on the table.”
