MARK Scott-Crossley, who served time for his involvement in the murder of a former worker who was thrown into a lions’ den in 2004, has finally handed himself over to the police.
This was after he had allegedly been on the run from cops for at least a month and a half.
He was wanted in connection with a case of attempted murder.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said Scott-Crossley handed himself over to the police in Pretoria yesterday morning.
A warrant for his arrest was issued in December after Silence Mabunda (38) reported that Scott-Crossley had assaulted him, and then ran him over with his 4x4 bakkie.
Mabunda was found lying in a pool of his blood on the R36 near Kampersrus Dorpie, Limpopo on 14 December.
He claimed that he and Scott-Crossley earlier had an argument at a shop in town.
He also claimed that Scott-Crossley had assaulted him.
Mabunda was rushed to Tinstswalo Hospital in Acornhoek, and later transferred to Rob Ferreira Hospital, Mpumalanga.
“When Scott-Crossley handed himself in, he was accompanied by his lawyer,” said Mojapelo.
“The investigating team is on their way to Pretoria to arrange that he be returned to face an attempted murder charge.”
On Friday, hundreds of angry Welverdiend villagers marched to hand over a memorandum to Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Jimmy Ledwaba.
They were demanding that Scott-Crossley be immediately arrested.
Mabunda told Daily Sun that he was relieved when cops called to say that his alleged attacker had been arrested.
“I was living in fear that he would hunt me down to finish me off.
“His intention was to kill me.
“Now it’s time for him to face the music.”
