AN UNDERCOVER operation by Nyanga cops seems to be working well. Suspects have been bust and stolen goods recovered.

Brigadier Vuyisile Ncata said they held an imbizo with Lusaka township residents to develop a good working relationship with them.

“We can’t do it alone. We need residents to work with us so that our communities are safe. We were able to recover stolen goods, including cosmetics, cellphones, bank cards and a firearm.”

He said it was disturbing that among the suspects were teenagers.

“Cops found a firearm on a teenage girl who was walking with her boyfriend, who is also a teenager. We have zero tolerance for criminals and won’t hesitate to arrest women, because some of them are criminals too.

“That’s why cops have female officers with them, so they can search suspicious women,” said Ncata.

Resident Monwabisi Joyi (59) said: “We are willing to work with cops as long as they don’t reveal our identity to the public.

“Cops must arrest these low life thugs.”
