ALL madala Sydwel wanted was some sleep.
So he asked his boozing neighbour to turn down her music.
But the neighbour did not
take kindly to this and allegedly swore at the madala before beating him!
Sydwel Nontanda (78), from Ngangelizwe in Mthatha, told Daily Sun he was traumatised by the attack, which left him with a bruised face and arm on Wednesday.
He said that his neighbour also mocked his skorokoro minibus taxi parked in his yard.
“I have never before been insulted this way in my entire life,” said a tearful Sydwel.
Madala Sydwel said he was particularly saddened by the fact that he used to see his 23-year-old neighbour as a granddaughter.
“A gogo neighbour and I felt disrespected by the young woman’s behaviour and politely asked her to respect us as neighbours,” said Sydwel.
“But the young woman insulted and bliksemmed me with my own walking stick!
“A group of young men I don’t know joined in and threw stones at me.
“The woman was arrested after the attack but I am living in fear because her friends are loose.”
Madala Sydwel said he was thinking of moving in with one of his sons because he did not feel safe in his own house any more.
Madala’s son, Mpumzi (40) said: “I was attending a workshop when I got a call about the attack and rushed home.
“By the time I arrived on the scene this evil girl had already been arrested.”
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Khwezi Dlanga confirmed that a woman was arrested and charged with assault and threatening another individual.
She will appear in court soon.
