A man was killed when he was ejected from his car during a head-on collision on Sarina Road in Hillary, Durban, paramedics said today.

The two vehicles collided head on Friday night causing one to roll several times coming to rest on its roof, Rescue Care operations director
Garrith Jamieson said.

One of the drivers died on the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The other driver was critically injured.

"Advanced life support paramedics stabilised the man in the wreckage by placing him on a manual ventilator whilst the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws-of-Life and other hydraulic equipment to cut the man free from the wreckage," Jamieson said.

Once freed the man was taken to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the accident was not known.
