WHEN Redden Mashile (28) found his ex-lover, Tsakani Mathebula (23), in bed with another man, he took out a hammer and bashed her to death.
The killing happened in front of Tsakani’s two kids in Brooklyn, near Acornhoek, Mpumalanga, on
14 December 2014.
Tsakani’s lover fled the scene unharmed.
On Friday, the Mhala Magistrates Court sentenced Mashile – who pleaded guilty – to 12 years in prison.
Prosecutor Kedibong Bareng told the court that a post mortem report revealed that the dead woman died from severe head injuries inflicted by a blunt object.
Magistrate Elmarie Theron described the accused as a short-tempered, jealous boyfriend.
She said it was the duty of the court to protect defenceless women and children.
“The deceased’s two kids will never forget that horrible night,” said
Theron.
“The accused is found guilty and sentenced to 12 years in jail. He is also declared unfit to possess a firearm.”
