THE FOUR young thugs thought they could use their guns to take over the kasi.

But then they got greedy and now three of them are behind bars – while another is lying in a mortuary.

THEY DIDN’T THINK OF GATVOL RESIDENTS WHO ARE TIRED OF LAWLESSNESS.

The four thugs allegedly started their reign of terror in Jeffsville squatter camp in Atteridgeville, Tshwane on Monday morning when they went to the Majie Supermarket.

They threatened the workers with firearms, taking cash, airtime and cellphones. Still the thugs weren’t satisfied.

They wanted more so they robbed a bakery before entering the Halala Shop in the same neighbourhood. Three Somali nationals were shot and injured during the robbery. A toddler next door was also shot in the elbow.

Business owner Ali Shidane (34) said he was not at the shop at the time.
“I got a call from an employee who had been shot. When I got there the workers were lying on the floor in a pool of blood,” he said.
“Our brothers are being killed every day. The government should do something about these criminals.”

He said the thugs took airtime vouchers, money and cigarettes.

Nanny Julie Ramadumbela (27), who was looking after the toddler, said she was busy in the house while the child was playing outside.
“I heard a gunshot from the shop. I ran outside.
“I called the name of one of the suspects and he pointed his gun at me and started shooting,” she said.

She said she ran for cover but the man shot at the child anyway.

The thugs still didn’t leave the area.

When they saw a bakkie with groceries meant for the shop, they fired at the bakkie and forced the driver to get out.

The driver was pistol whipped and injured but that is when the residents arrived and chased them until they caught them, in extension 6.

One man was stoned to death by enraged residents and the other three were rescued by police from their angry hands and taken to Kalafong Hospital for treatment.

Captain Thomas Mufamadi said the police opened cases of business robbery, attempted murder and murder.
“The suspects will appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrates Court soon,” he said.
“We appeal to the public not to take the law into their own hands,” Mufamadi said.
