CHAOS in parliament will end up in court.
The EFF has promised to lay criminal charges against the Speaker and the protection officers who threw them out yesterday after they refused to let President Jacob Zuma speak.
The disruption started when EFF chief whip Floyd Shivambu said parliament could not allow an illegitimate president to speak in the House.
EFF members were given several warnings to stop shouting that Zuma should not be allowed to address the National Assembly. Then the Speaker, Baleka Mbete, started calling EFF MPs by name and telling them to leave.
They refused and gathered around a microphone, repeating their demand.
When a group of protection offices appeared, a glass of water was thrown at a security man, and some EFF MPs fought with the officers while MP Makoti Khawula shouted in Zulu.
EFF MP Natasha Louw warned one of the officers that if they put a finger on her she would lay a charge of sexual assault.
The members were thrown out but kept up their shouting.
“Zuma should be the one to go!” they shouted, eventually regrouping outside one of the entrances.
Shivambu told reporters that criminal charges would be laid over what had just happened to them.
When they tried to get into their offices in Marks Building they were stopped by plainclothes officers, but broke through.
Zuma then began his address. – NEWS24
