AFTER sharing a meal with his mum and gogo on Tuesday, Tshepang Pooe complained of stomach cramps.

A short while later, the
18-year-old from Meadowlands, Soweto died in his gogo’s arms!

His mum Janet (45) also got sick and is fighting for her life in hospital.

However, gogo Mabaruti Maake (73) wasn’t affected by the food at all.

She said Janet came home with three containers of food after visiting a feeding scheme in zone 3.

After laying the table and saying their prayers, all three started eating.

Gogo Mabaruti told Daily Sun: “Tshepang started complaining his stomach was painful and I told him to drink some water. Before he could fetch it, he dropped his food and fell to the floor in pain.

“I picked him up and held him to my chest. I sent Janet, who wasn’t showing any signs of being sick then, to the spaza shop to buy milk.

“By the time she came back, Tshepang was worse and she went to get help from the neighbours.”

As they were calling an ambulance for Tshepang, Janet also started feeling sick.

“She started screaming and threw up. White foam was soon coming out of her mouth and nostrils.

“By this time Tshepang was lying still on the floor and his jaws were tightly closed,” said the gogo.

The paramedics apparently arrived an hour later. Tshepang was declared dead on the scene and Janet was rushed to hospital.

Sergeant Octavia Thebe of the Meadowlands police said the incident is being investigated.
