IDOLS SA contestants’ nerves have calmed – but now, it’s the judges’ turn to be nervous!

One of the Mzansi Magic reality show judges is said to be holding her breath over her contract.

Unathi Msengana’s future seems uncertain. This after the other judges have been given their contracts for the next season.

Hardly two months after Unathi has been reinstated in her Metro FM slot, she is said to find herself in a similar situation.

Sunday Sun sources claimed Unathi is the only Idols judge who is yet to be offered a new contract.

A source close to the situation told Sunday Sun Somizi Mhlongo has already been confirmed as one of the judges for next year, while Unathi’s fate hangs by a thread.

The sources said Unathi started worrying about her future after learning that Somizi has been confirmed as one of the judges for next year.

The source said Unathi was alerted by Somizi after he was called to sign his contract.

“All I can say is she was worried that Somizi has already been booked for next year,” added the source.

The source claimed M-Net was happy with Somizi’s impact on the show.

The source said Somizi seriously boosted the show’s ratings.

“After turning the show around, I doubt Somizi will come cheap and there are a few demands – you know Somizi is a diva,” said the source.

The source said it remains unclear whether Unathi will return to the show or not.

“Let’s wait and see, maybe she’s coming back, it’s still early,” the source said.

Public Relations intern: Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, Zama Mazibuko, said she can’t comment on the issue as yet.

“Can you guys wait?

“We’re going to make an announcement soon,” she said.

Unathi couldn’t be reached for comment as her phone was constantly off at the time of going to print.
