Dj Black Coffee proved once again why he is the king of South African music last night at Zone 6 in Soweto.He held a free concert for his fans in celebration of his BET Award win over the weekend. Coffee walked away with the Best International Act: Africa award at in Los Angeles on Sunday.
On Monday, the DJ announced on his social media pages that he would be holding a free concert to celebrate his big win at the BETs and true to the legend that he is, the free tickets ran out online within one hour. “OK Let’s meet in Soweto at Zone 6 this Thursday to celebrate this BETAward…IT’S FREE” he said on Twitter.
Crowds and fellow musicians alike gathered and danced the night away to celebrate the DJ's tremendous accomplishments. Coffee is the first South African artist to win a BET award and his 2016 global tour has been sold out. He is also said to be collaborating with international RnB singer Alicia Keys on a new project.
Coffee’s hour-long set left crowds begging for more and chanting “coffee coffee” when his set ended. Instead, he took to the stage to thank the crowd for their enduring support throughout his career. “I just want to thank all of you,” the dj said. “I do this for you, I love you. Thank you,” he continued.
Today, fans woke up to the release of Alicia Keys’ In Common, the Black Coffee Remix, which is now available for download. That Coffee reign just won’t let up.
