PHAT Joe is another big gun to leave Metro FM, after Tbo Touch.

The controversial TV host and radio personality, who was the host of Metro FM’s breakfast show on Saturdays, began his duties at East Coast Radio in KZN yesterday.

He is hosting the drive-time show between 3pm and 6pm with Zaba Simbine.

Phat Joe used to present SABC1’s gossip and entertainment show The Real Goboza.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me. Not only will I get to chill in Durban but I also get to interact with the cool listeners here,” he said.

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said he does not know anything about Phat Joe’s move.

When asked whether he was fired or resigned, Kganyago said he could not comment but asked for an email with questions and said he’d respond – which he hasn’t done.

When Daily Sun listened to East Coast Radio yesterday, Phat Joe was on the air.

He posted on Instagram: “Thank you @tsogosun for the lovely welcome cake!”

His fans reacted. Mamaboitshepo said: “Ya neh, Metro is going to be 90% boring.”
