WHILE most men would do anything to have women throw themselves at them, Dumi Mkokstad hates it.
The award-winning gospel star is currently single, and he wants to stay that way for now.
He told Daily Sun he was being tortured by women looking for love. He said whenever he opened his Facebook inbox, he was flooded with messages from women he didn’t know.
The 25-year-old said the messages were getting so intense that he bought a ring to wear on his ring finger so women would think he was taken.
“I seem to be losing the battle with these crazy women. No matter how hard I try, they keep sending me messages. There’s nothing I haven’t tried to keep them away,” he said.
“I’m a child of God and a born-again Christian and I’m not looking to be involved with anyone. I don’t want a girlfriend or a wife because I’m too young for that.”
However, he said he stopped wearing the ring because people were asking too many questions.
“I had to take it off because people were speculating about my marital status. I have now reached the point where I have to say enough is enough,” said Dumi.
Dumi said the messages were not of a sexual nature but he wanted them to stop. When asked if he had considered leaving Facebook, he said he couldn’t because he used it to advertise his events and to keep people up to date with what was happening in his life.
His career highlights include winning the song of the year award with Mbize at the Crown Gospel Music Awards in 2013 and having his song, Gethsemane named a gospel classic at last year’s Crown Awards.
