IT’S tough keeping up with the Joneses.
Minnie’s wedding to Quinton Jones’s cost a bundle . . . AND SOME BILLS ARE STILL UNPAID!
That’s the astonishing allegation that haunts the day Minnie became a married woman.
She and Quinton tied the knot last month and her fans saw the wedding for the first time in a three-part series dubbed Becoming Mrs Jones.
The first part was aired on Vuzu TV on Friday and it trended on Twitter.
Sunday Sun is aware of allegations that the happy couple have not yet settled bills from the wedding planner Mizana Qata of Well Seated – a decor and events company in Jozi.
Sources close to the couple say Mizana planned both the white wedding in Cape Town and the traditional wedding in Durban.
Mizana was not forthcoming about the amount Minnie allegedly owes her, but the total cost of the wedding was reported to be in excess of R1 million.
An events industry source alleged that Mizana has been frustrated, and couldn’t get hold of the star.
This insider said: “I think Minnie is still waiting for cash from her sponsors – or something must have happened.”
Another source close to Mizana says she was considering taking legal action against Minnie and her hubby as she had to pay other service providers from her own pocket.
“Mizana is a perfectionist and she went all out for Minnie to ensure everything ran smoothly,” the source said.
And there’s a rumour swirling in showbiz circles, that Mizana asked one of Minnie’s sponsors not to mention her name on Minnie’s TV special – because she has not been paid.
“Mizana doesn’t understand why her company name and brand should be mentioned,” said the source.
But according to a third source, Minnie is going to settle the bill.
This mole alleged: “It’s just a matter of time until her things come together. She’s still waiting for some payments. She’s working on a few things. She’ll pay the bill. They’ve just moved into a new house and they’re a young couple . Her things will come together.”
Another source claimed Minnie asked her guests not to buy gifts, but deposit cash into her personal account.
“I thought that was strange, but people do things differently,” said the source.
Last week, Mizana refused to comment.
She referred us to her lawyers.
Yesterday, her lawyer, Craig Green from Schindlers Attorneys, sent the following email to the People’s Paper.
It reads, part: “Our client has instructed us to advise that she has accepted a settlement offer made by Mrs Minenhle Dlamini, the terms of which our client, in good faith, prefers not to disclose.”
Minnie and Quinton were not available for comment.
Yesterday Minnie’s PR manager Sarit Tomlinson said: “Minnie has always acted with integrity in all her business dealings.
“The issue of her wedding is no exception.
“The allegations are false and misleading.”
