DURBAN was a colourful affair as the Redd’s Street Carnival rocked the city on Saturday.

The carnival started at Ushaka Marine World with artists showcasing their talents.

Dancers, musicians, traditionally-dressed rickshaws, drummers, bikers and others were part of the carnival.

VIPs and members of the media were taken by rickshaws from Ushaka Marine World to the Durban New Beach.

This is where the main event was held.

Nomzamo Jila (46) who attended the carnival said she had never seen anything like it before.

“I have never seen such beauty in my life,” said Nomzamo.

Artists including Nasty C, DreamTeam, DJ C’ndo, Junior De Rock, AKA and others left people wanting more.

The carnival is hosted in Bloemfontein, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Nelspruit.

It was launched last year and was happening for the second year in Durban.

The alcoholic beverage company’s marketing manager Michelle Parkovish said she saw an improvement in terms of attendance since last year.

“Our aim is to unite people,” said Parkovish.

“We want people to know that they can do things together.”
