ARTHUR Mafokate has made it no secret that he is an ANC supporter.

He performs at most of the ANC’s gigs and has been vocal about his love for the party.

But the 999 founder surprised many when he came out in support of the DA’s new Joburg mayor, Herman Mashaba, before the inaugural council sitting at the Joburg City Hall on Monday.

This soon led to Twitter users accusing Arthur of being a backstabber and insulting him.

The tweet that caused all the controversy read: “Wow! Bra Herman Mashaba who used to sponsor us as dancers is about to be mayor of the most powerful city in Africa.”

Many viewed the tweet as an effort by Arthur to win the new mayor’s favour.

DJ Euphonik, who has been in the media for allegedly having a relationship with Arthur’s rumoured girlfriend, Chomee, replied: “Arthur just proved it’s possible to tweet and suck d**k at the same time. Prime example of opportunity swaying your loyalty.”

Twitter user Zwakelem wrote: “You only remember that now after six months of dabbling with the ANC.”

KleinhansMK said: “Arthur is a magosha. Now he is hinting at sponsorship. Where are the tenders baba?”

Sloksmanchidi tweeted: “That opportunist is now praising Mashaba of the DA. He just wants gigs.”

Arthur also spoke highly of the EFF’s Julius Malema, saying: “The Julius I know is not going to take any nonsense from any person he donated his votes to. Watch the space.”

When contacted for comment Arthur asked the SunTeam to send him an SMS, to which he replied: “With all due, no comment.”
