PRESENTER and YFM radio host Anathi Seyisi has landed her first TV role.
She plays Ndoniyamanzi Jele on e.tv’s new drama series, Harvest.
The 23-year-old from Knysna in the Western Cape said it is a dream come true.
Speaking to SunBuzz, she said: “I am blessed and overwhelmed to get such a big role as a first-time actress. I was always afraid to pursue acting. I thought if I ever did get a part, it would be in a smaller role.”
She said her character, which is one of the lead roles, changed the way she sees things.
“I have always heard actors saying that they marry their character. This is what I am experiencing now while portraying this role.
“Ndoni is a teenager who comes from a good family but gets caught up in bad habits and hooked on illegal substances.”
Anathi said Ndoni doesn’t get along with her mother and does things just to spite her.
She said although they are very different, she and her character have some similarities.
“Ndoni and I are both determined. We always pursue what we want. But unlike Ndoni, I’m not a spoilt brat and I don’t come from a rich family. I worked hard to achieve my goals.”
She said she sometimes doubts her abilities on set but with the support of the crew and fellow cast members she manages to succeed.
“I am grateful to be working with people who want to help me grow as an actress. They allow me to learn.
“Sometimes I feel as if I’m not doing enough because my dreams become bigger every day. I often wonder what legacy I will leave behind when I die. That is why I push myself.”
Anathi said every time she is rejected at auditions, she becomes more motivated. “Auditions help me master my craft. I want to be the best at what I do.”
