Seasoned actor, Lehasa Moloi, is back on the small screen after clinching a role on Mzansi’s second most-watched soapie, Generations: The Legacy.

In a previous interview, the actor told TRUELOVE that jobs were hard to come by. After being rejected numerous times, Lehasa has finally gotten his dream role on a show he grew up watching.

“I grew up watching Generations. It’s partly where I caught the acting bug, so this is a huge honour and privilege,” he says. “Other languages, except isiZulu, isiXhosa, English and Afrikaans, are barely given a chance on TV these days. Artists who do not speak the ‘profitable’ languages are sidelined.”

The star says he auditioned for the role after the script was sent to his agent. “The script for this role was written and sent to my agent. I auditioned for it and got it. I recently set up a studio at home for my photography business, so that helped me get the right look and feel for the self tape,” he explains.

While some of his peers may find it disheartening to attend many auditions without success, Lehasa sees it as an opportunity for growth.

“Going through many auditions can be seen as rejection but as difficult as it is, I think of it as pruning. I always believe that the right role is looking for me, as much as I’m looking for it,” he says.

“My favourite Bible passage, James 1:2-4, says: ‘Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything,” he concludes.
